Heater core question

I just purchased a heater core for my truck, but it looks different from the heater core in the repair manual. The one in the repair manual has long pipes coming off of it, while mine only has small ones. It looks like longer pipes could fit in the outlets with seals or solder or something, so I am wondering if I need to purchase some seals or solder or anything like that to attach the pipes to it.

Anyone ever done this before or have any ideas if I need anything for it? The link below is the one I bought.

I would think that as long as the pipes are long enough to fit the hose and a hose clamp you should be okay. I did mine a couple of years ago, but can"t remember.

I do not think that these pipes are nearly long enough. They are only about an inch or so, while the picture in the manual has long pipes. It looks like a pipe could fit in those inch long outlets, but it does not say anything about it in the book.

There should be extensions already in the truck that go on to the heater core leads. What kinda truck is this for?

I am sure the extensions are there, but I just want to know if I need to buy a new seal or solder or something to attach them to the core.

As has been suggested, it looks like your heater core uses two extension pipes that go through the firewall. You'll see how it all works when you remove the HVAC system from your truck.

What you need though is a couple of O-rings. Your Toyota dealer should be able to look up a diagram on the computer showing the connections from the heater core and any O-rings you'll need.

While you're working on the aircon/heating, have you considered upgrading to the new gas?

I would, but I do not have A/C.
