headunit problems
I have had a Blaupunkt San Francisco for about 3 years now and it has never even been out of the box. I tried installing it today but it will not fit in my 92 runner. Crutchfield claims it goes right in but it doesnt. If anyone has any info on this please help me. I just installed infinity kappa 42.3i's up front and kenwood kfc-6959ie's in the rear in boxes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

how does it not fit? did you take apart the dash? head units usually come w/ a bracket around them for domestics that you have to unscrew to slide into the japanese cars.

Did you remove the stock bracket from the stock radio? You have to screw that to the new stereo (with the DIN sleeve off). The new deck should fit up top, and you should get a pocket for the bottom.

I have the brackets and sleeve and the pocket kit and all, but the face of the radio is too big or something. its weird because the depth of it and height of the receiver is same as my friends fosgate, but the front is a flip face with the security card in it and if i want it to fit i think im goign to have to cut out the dash cover that goes around it

BTW, the guy i bought the truck from not only took out the stock radio and brackets he cut the harness out instead of unplugging it. so i had to hardwire my harness in. but i picked up the brackets from local yard

yes, that thing around the faceplate is just a plastic piece that is held on usually by two clips on either side. It will slide right off. As mentioned, that is for domestics, not the toyota din's.
