Have you seen these b4? 93 4Runner tails

I picked these up on ebay. It says they're from a 93 4Runner but I was looking around and can't find any like them, either stock or replacement. They don't say Toyota on them like my originals do. Has anyone seen them before? I was thinking they might Japanese aftermarket (JDM) or from Australia or something like that. Here's the link to the ebay page:

Those are sweet! There's a thread on here about Runner tails and I think theres a pic of those on the JDM ones or some place, they've got the in tail back up lights that you could splice in with yours and have doubleish the light.
Nice Find!

I will look for that thread. I'm curious as to where they came from. I will be splicing into the reverse lights on the tailgate. I was thinking maybe 50W bulbs in the tails.
Yeah Cebby, trade. My stock lenses have amber up top too!
I like these because it's like hybrid of stock and altezza. I was going to win that auction either way.

Oh yeah? I bet they don't look like this...

I thought I remember reading that the 90-91 tails were different than the 92-95 versions. If these don't fit your rig, I'd like to be first in line to buy them from you...

Right! They don't. They're the same except for the clear portion for the backup lights. Were those stock? The 90-91 and 92-95s are different, but only in the harness at the light. I was worried about it when I got mine. I put one on the other day just to check the fitness and they line up perfect. Mine also have 2 extra wires due to the backup lights again.

I have the same exact ones also bought on eBay from a seller in Japan.
They are/were OEM made in Japan for a Toyota Hilux Surf and came equipped for the same vehical in Australia, Japan, and a couple other countries. I did a lot of research on 2nd gen after market tail lights which you can see in other threads.

I do have to say WOW! You got one heck of a deal at the right time.
I recently paid something like $225 for mine.
The only thing "bad" about them are the 3 socket holes- unless you have the 4Runner with a swing away tire carrier that came on certain 2nd gen models or years.

Also, the red brake light lense is a lot smaller than the factory tails but i dont mind it. I thought about using the clear lense to wire an additional brake light just for looks...

Another thing, I had to do some slight creative cutting to the light holes to fit the OEM wire harness/bulb sockets.

Mine are not stock, they are JDM ones from Japan. I got them from CDUFF7. I know he has at least one more set, maybe two. Tofer, you may want to PM him. He's awesome to deal with. He even got the bulbsockets and a piece of the harness so splicing it in would be easy.

Tofer: I'm gonna keep e'm. But I'll sell my stock lights!
Rocket: Did you get just the lenses for $225?! Mine are the entire lens/housing assy., sockets, bulbs, harness. All I'm needing to do is splice the harness into my existing one and tap into the backup lights in the tailgate. I have a 3rd brake light to go up top on the roof as well.
Cebby, did you have to splice anything on yours, like with sockets?

Mine are still sitting on the work bench since I have bigger fish to fry with my Runner currently. You will need to cut the stock harness and wire in the pigtail. Make sure you soldier and heatshrink the connections. I plan to use "glued" heat shrink. That stuff does a nice job of keeping the connections protected.

I can't say I've seen the 'glued' heatshrink before. I'll have to look into that. That sounds like a good solution as tail and corner light splices are notorious for corrosion, especially up here in the NE.
$300?! HS!!! At least now I know where they are from and I got a wicked deal!
