has anyone done onboard air?

Has anyone done on-board air with a/c pump and a electric motor?I got a brand-new a/c pump from a Ford and a starter from a Honda both for free. I was just wondering if anyone had attempted anything like this. Thanks!

I've not done it in a Toyota but Yes otherwise.

Does your AC pump have a separate crankcase for its lubrication oil? If not you will have to oil it periodically and run a oil separator on your air supply line to then keep your tires and tools oil free.

For storage air does not care what the shape is or how many containers it is in. 4 small 5 gal tanks is the same as 1-20 in the bed. Their may be slightly reduced cfm if the fittings make sharp turns though.

I've never heard of an OBA setup that utilizes a starter motor. Sounds like a dumb idea to me. Better off buying a Powertank.

I did an OBA in my '84 4runner using the stock A/C compressor (had to sacrifice my A/C). Worked great for 12 years, until I sold the rig.

The reason I'm using that is because it's free. I would run it off the motor but there is no room. And it's my DD so a/c is a must.
