Question Has anybody used the anti-fog Rain-X?

I saw the thread for the Rain-X stuff and wondered if anyone had any tips for using the anti-fog type. I tried it once followed the instructions and ended up with a windshield that fogged up that night that no amount of defrost would clear. It took a lot of sweat and windex before I could drive and it took a few months before certain parts of the windshield would clear. Did I do something wrong or is it just a crappy product? my experiance soured me on trying the regular rain-x but after reading the other thread Imight try it. Do you guys have any tips? Thanx Aviator

It doesn't seem to work for me. Either kind of Rain-X as I;ve used them both...Had to crank the heater way up last year as it was so wet and with both the front and rear heaters going kept them just clean enough to drive. LOL

I tried it in mine, and it seemed to make the fog much worse. I could have done it wrong..but how hard could it be?

I used the anti-fog stuff a long time ago. I seem to remember it worked fine. The exterior stuff is awesome. I've used it for years and it is great. I live in sunny Seattle so I've got plenty of experience.

NEVER AGAIN!
I love the exterior stuff, but I'd rather set my dash on fire to clear the fog, rather than use that stuff on the inside again. I followed all the instructions and it STILL fogged up, even when ther was no humidity.

the exterior stuff is great, don't use it on your windshield though, it sticks to your blades, and when you do use them, it smears a lot, but it is excellent on side and rear windows!

I used it and found that it tends to leave a hazy film that really becomes noticeable when you have the wipers on.

The last two posts are right on the money. Rain-x works fine on the front windshield until you apply the wipers and then it turns to crap! Smears like crazy. I only use it on the other windows now, never the windshield.

I used to use the anti-fog on my VW Beetle years ago because it didn't have a rear window defogger. It worked well, but if you didn't really buff it in, it would leave a haze. It worked so well, I could tell if I missed a spot because that spot would fog up while the rest of the window would be clear.

Since I now own cars with proper defogging technology, I haven't had a need for it.

I don't get how the wipers are smearing the Rain-X,I've been using the stuff for almost 15 years and the stuff works like it should. Maybe you guys are not buffing it in enough or something. I have the PIAA wipers and they work great in conjunction with the Rain-X.
The anti-fog stuff seems to be hit and miss since it hasn't really imporved things when I used it in my truck but on my bathroom mirror is dissapates the fog alot quiker.

i had problems with rain-x sticking to the wipers once. Now i just use the washer fluid with the rain-x in it. you have to be careful though, the cheap brand stuff leaves streaks all over your paint. I never used the fog stuff though, my window stays pretty clear as long as i keep it clean.

I used rain-x and it didn't help much, so I just use an all purpose wax on the winshield. repels water better than anything else.

Do you have air conditioning? If so, you have no need for anti fog.
I have never tried to use it in a car (no need for it) but used it for years on my motorcycle face shield. Worked great.
TIP: Surface MUST be perfectly clean before applying! REally Really clean.
