Has anybody shaved their A$$???? hehehe
I knew that would get your attention....now let me explain.
WhenI had my last car, a Maxima, a bunch of the guys would take all the emblems off and since the majority of them were on the trunk, the called it shaving their A$$. Anyway, I never did it, but it looked kinda cool with no badges.
I was wondering if anybody had done the same with their 4Runner badges? I know that in some places like the grill and the tailgate where there is molding surrounding it, it wouldn't look right without it, but the rest of them. I have thought about just taking all mine off my '03 since I am not crazy about the font they used for the badges. It looks much better on the previous 4Runners. Just curious.

I know what you mean about the font. I've been trying to decide if they could have made it uglier If I owned a new one I'd do away woth the badges. Hey maybe you could find some older generation badges and put those on. That would be cool

I have been thinking about doing that. I wish there was some way I could create new badges and install them. I have thought about creating the new badges on my computer, then making dummy pieces, than using those to create molds out of, then making the new ones out of some sort of resin. To finish them off, I would have them chromed or black chromed. But that would be a hell of a lot of work.:pat:

Hey momo, I read a thread about that a few days ago. Maybe you even posted it. If I were you, I would go to the dealer on Sunday and try it. JK Serously, they are adhered or glued on, so I would bet that with heat and a non abrasive line, you could get them off. I wouldn't try any compounds or chemicals though. At least until they're off. I've been thinking the same about the cladding. I can't see how ARB or TJM can make a bumper to match the width of that crap. Seems like a lot of wasted space there. Anywho, keep posting on this.

I don't want it to sound like I think I'm better than someone else.. But, mine says "Limited 4WD" on the sides and I ain't taking those off, you get my meaning ? Chicks dig "Limited" even if there isn't anything limited about a "Limited" 4Runner.
I have flirted with the idea of taking the ones off the rear and even considered removing the afore mentioned "Limited 4WD" badges.
The option for the front is to get a chrome grill when they come out. Personally I like the front... Now the Lexus version of our 4Runners, I don't think looks good at all.

I've taken all but two badges off my 98. The only ones remaining are the oval "T" emblem and the "4Runner" on the license plate fascia. It looks so much better---less cluttered.
The later model 3rd gens IMHO is "emblem hell". I recall seeing the oval emblem, 4Runner, Limited, V6, and 4WD on a back of one 4runner about 2 days ago.

I thought about debadging the rear and putting a V8 back their the one that comes on the Lexus and yeah the GX is still looking funky to me, the 4Runner looks like it has been in the gym, sporty and sleek the GX

The only badges I have are the T symbol and the V6 on the front grill. Nothing on the sides, nothing on the tailgate. The body is completely free of decals or emblems. I really like the look. I don't mind the 2 emblems up front.... they seem to fit. But all the other decals..... I'm glad I don't have them!

I took off everything except the Toy symbols on the grille and tailgate. All I did was park it in the sun for a bit and then drag some dental floss behind the emblem. Most came off pretty easy. Then I used some Goo-gone to help get the rest of the gunk off and finally put some wax over the clean areas. Here are before (real old) and after pics. (I know I have a 3rd gen and all, but it still gives you an idea...) (See next post.)

I had an idea for some replacement emblems, that is if I even put some on. I can have these cut on a plotter with vinyl that has a brushed metal look. Anyway, tell me which one/ones you guys like.

I was real close to doing this to my TL Type-S. Some guys I knew had taken theres off, and it looked really clean, but I decided not too. And this is why. I didn't want anyone thinking(when I sold) that it had been repainted or something. I've noticed in the past that some cars that had been repainted lacked their emblems. So I decided against it. I know it might sound silly but, that's my story. But on the flip side, I thik it looks clean with out all the writing.
