H O alternator, where did you get yours?

Hi all, I am in the process of upgrading my audio system. The inclusion of two 1000 watt amps is going to put some serious strain on my alternator. Can anyone tell me where they got their HO alternator from and how much? I'm thinking that I will need a 200 amp alt...

Thanks

I second that. Cheap and reliable... always a plus in my book.

Mr. Alternator is my sugestion as well, Tom has sold a lot of parts to forum members.

But, something else to think about would be to not ty to run the amps straight from the alternator. Finding a 200amp part could be quite a task. The one I got from Tom is rated at 150amp, though I don't know that he doesn't go higher.

You may want to look at what the db drag guys do which is to run their amps from dedicated batteries wired in parallel and isolated from the main rig battery which would still run the system electrical, head unit, starter, etc.

There was a similar thread to your ponderings recently over here:

Maybe drop a line to the guy asking the original question over thee and see what he ended up doing.

Good luck!

A third vote for Tom. I just put mine on a few days ago - 140 amp!
