Grille inserts or cover for '99 4runner
Does anyone know where I can find a grille insert or cover of some sort that will fit on a ’99 4runner?
It gets really cold around here (wind-chill this morning fluctuated between 30F and 60F below zero) and my car has to stay outside. I want to keep the cold air and wind out of the engine compartment as much as possible when the car is parked.
I’ve never done this before… Just seen it on other cars and semi-trucks as they drive by… Wouldn’t there be a problem with the grille being blocked once the engine warms up and I am moving faster? It seems like the radiator won’t be getting enough airflow through it to cool the engine enough… should I be concerned?
The only things I have done so far to fight the cold are:
Oil pan and transmission pan heating pads and a trickle charger for the battery (I keep all 3 of them plugged in whenever the car is parked)
5W-30 synthetic oil.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I feel for ya man......it is brutally cold here too but my 4runner never fails to start. You may try switching to the Amsoil 0W30 to help a bit on the turnover in the morning. Other than than you have more than I do and mine starts pretty easily in -40C (same as -40F.......that is where they cross over. ). Just make sure the car is well maintained (change all your air and fuels filters, spark plugs, run a bottle of Techtron injection cleaner and clean the throttle body well) so it starts in the minimal amount of time. I put the key in and wait about 5 secs before starting to allow fuel pressure to build up. I have never had any trouble with starting it that way. I just got a remote starter installed (I just put in a Viper 550 ESP myself and I definately recommend getting one) which helps you go out to a warm car and helps the car because it is warmed up before you drive it.
