Great site y'all have here!

I'm currently bringing back to life my bro-in-laws '92 4-Runner and have found this site to be very helpful. He's in the Navy in Japan until next year.

The thing was in bad shape after sitting under a cedar tree for almost two years...

It's coming along nicely and will soon have some goodies on it. Best thing I've done so far(too many to list) - clean the TB and TPS! yuck - raised the idle by about 1000! I had to wrench the throttle cable up just to get it to idle at all before!

And came up with my own intake out of aluminized mandrel pipe(that I polished ) - that I found was JUST like the one on this site in the Modifications section.. lol - thought I had an original or something..

I'm going to check with a dealer tomorrow to run the VIN to see if any of the recalls have been performed on it. It's got over 170,000 miles on it - runs well, but does have some valve-train noise - kind of like an old LT1 Chevy.. Runs good though.

Next up: Replacing the exhaust system with a new cat and Dynomax cat-back. The factory exhaust is about rusted out... Plus, throwing some KYB shocks on it. This all should be done by next week and hopefully I'll be done with working on it - and start playing in it - until my b-n-law reclaims it next year.

Thanks again for a great site!

Keep it up.

Welcome!
Go with Bilsteins! I had KYB and think the Bils offered a much better ride!

Welcome aboard!

Damn, you're a nice Bro-In-Law. Can you talk to my deadbeat bro-in-laws and get them to do something for me? On second thought, they're like chicks - put gas in and go, so never mind.

Disclaimer: The "chick" statement was meant as a joke. Any women on this board are obviously not a part of this ill-conceived stereotype...[backpeddling mode=off]

Heck, I wish I could just get mine to pump her own gas cause, man, she has got the GO part down. In riding with my wife she has two speeds driving...

1) ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

and

2) ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

My kids are going to need therapy when they get old enough to realize their mother's driving habits! I just thank God for airbags and carseats and try NOT to think about it...

LOL

Thanks for the compliment on the site mertztr!

89-4run - well, since I'm a KYB dealer and already had the shocks I went ahead and put them on today. Haven't driven it yet, but I think they'll work out.

Man, sure is a big difference power-wise compared to my normal daily driver - the Z28 in my sig! Anyone ever sprayed(nitrous) one of these motors?

Drop a supercharger in. Then you'll notice less of a difference. Some one on here has a 11 or 12 second 4Runner, I think it was high 11 to mid 12.
