i just got the engine, and i have to install the water pump and oil pump and then the crank pulley and cam pulleys,

how do i install the timing belt making sure the timing is correct?
how do i set the timing?

For starters, buy a service manual and read it!

Now to answer your questions, we need year model, make, engine size.......

Because of the nature of your questioning, you really should have someone with experience helping you.

I searched for the page I used for help, but can't seem to find it anymore. Of course it's been about 2 years since I needed it.

I assume you're talking about a 3.0 V6. I'm uploading the service manual to my web page and will repost later today with info. That should have the info you need.

On mine, line up the cams with the timing marks, I think the crank is set at 0. Make sure you use a Toyota timing belt. Line up the timing marks on the belt with the timing marks on the cams. Tension the belt. rotate the crank 2 revolutions by hand...then recheck the alignment of the timing marks on the cams and belt. If they are off, retime it again. I tried a non-Toy belt to begin with and got frustrated. Bought a Toy belt and got it set on first try.

thats alot man thats the help i was looking for on how to line everything up

i have a shop manual but its better to hear it in normal terms and talk,

thats how i thought to do it but i wasnt 100% sure

No problem, let me know if you need some more help. You might even turn it over a few times with the starter to make sure it stays in alignment. I was real cautious on mine...OHC motors can be a pain to get timed properly. But, when I buttoned everything back together, it fired right up. That will leave you feeling real good!
