Got a rattle in the back of my 2nd gen..
I've checked it out a bit and I'm pretty certain it's not the window rattling, but it seems like it is the back tailgate itself not latching all the way on the passenger side. Not sure what to do to fix that so I wanted to get some ideas from you guys. I wrapped some velcro tape I had around the metal loop thing that the latch connects to and that seems to quiten it down a bit but that's certainly not a permanent fix. Think I just need to replace the latch itself on that side?
Thanks
Thanks

Do you have the tire carrier on the back, or is the spare underneath. My tire carrier kept rattline, so i wrapped anything that rubbed with rags till the rattle went away. Just a thought.

Alright, I'll check that out as well. It really sounds and feels like it's coming from the tailgate though, cause when I try to pull on it a bit there is some give on one side and none on the other. But I'll check the spare underneath to make sure it's not something down there. Thanks.
Any other suggestions?

If you added a piece of foam to the spot where the tailgate meets the truck, would that take up the space so it wouldn't rattle? Kind of like putting weatherstripping on door, you'd have to pull it harder to latch it.

I'm assuming since the noise diminished a bit since you put the velcro on there, chances are it is the latch. Instead of jimmy rigging something together, just do the job right and get another latch. Never had to replace the latch on any 2nd gens so I don't know how much time is involved, but you will save tons of headaches down the road if you save yourself the despair and fix it right
