Is this a good price for a timing belt change?

I went to a Toyota/lexus specialist called import auto and gott a price quote to do the good ol' timing belt and water pump. They quoted me $650.00 plus tax. which incluses the following:

Timing belt
tensioner
waterpump
oil seals
coolant flush (red toyota stuff)
a/c belt
pwr st. belt
alternator belt
All necessary labor to complete job.
(all parts are oem toyota parts)

Is this good? Its a good shop that I heared good things about. (ase cert. tecs) KInda skeptical I'd like to have the dealer work on it (when I can afford it) hmmmmmmmm

I had the exact same service done to my 4Runner a few months back, with about 93k miles. My total was $676.40 with tax, so you're getting a pretty good price from them.

Yep. Not bad at all. I was quoted $750, and that didn't include the tensioner and seals.

*edit* Apparently hross14 and I speak the same language, lol

Make sure they're using OEM parts. I'd even buy the parts from trdparts4u and bring them in.

A dealership would likely come up with a few more things to at least check out while the front of the motor is apart.

Mine has mentioned things like some bearings-I don't really know which ones, but my point is while it is all taken apart it is best to be comprehensive in checking all parts that could need servicing. A few more dollars now could save hundreds later if it all has to be taken apart again.

I would have your Yota dealership quote you also for the job so you can learn the specifics of what I am getting at...I am not a mechanic.

use that quote as ammunition to get the most complete job while it is apart.

I'm not suggesting anything is wrong with your shop's quote or price-merely that you be sure you are getting the most thorough job and all done at once.
