Going to Stealership, need opinions

It's time for my 30K service. I have already changed to Amsoil in the engine, both differentials & transfer case. I will leave a note on the dash stating NOT to replace those fluids. I plan on the basic 30k maintance and plan on asking them to flush out the tranny and use my Amsoil transmission fluid.

Not to menchon that the engine sounds louder when accelerating and I would like that looked at under warranty. Probably just my paranoid imagination though. And I could also use a little alignment. These NYC road can beat you up pretty hard.

Now before you start saying I should go here and I should go there, I don't have the time to go to a tire place for an alignment and a tranny place for the flushing. I am not a fan of dealerships but I should be okay, right?

Citykid, get them to print out a list of what they plan on doing and then cross out what you do not want them to do. That way you are both at a complete understanding of what should be done. Hope this helps.

Thanks Paul, that's a great idea.

Anyone else?
"Yeah, that's a good idea you want to do"
or
"Dude, are you nuts? I'd never do that!"

What Paul H said is a great idea. Keep in mind, its not a bad idea to have the stealer do the 30K because you are still under warranty, and they can find things that you may not normally see. Like when they found a leaking water pump at 29K on my 98 LTD. Its in their best interest to find things since Toyota pays them for their warranty work.

They should adjust the price accordingly to the parts/fluids you are providing.

It's a real hit-or-miss with the dealerships these days. I have one near me that's been fantastic of late but was worthless a few years back. Another one across the river has ALWAYS been a menace to the Toyota name.

Paul H. hit the nail on the head. Spell it out for them.

If you are going to a dealership for a 30K check they may do just a ATF drain and fill. By doing that they are only going to get out a couple of quarts of fluid. That is what my dealer was going to do because they did not have the right adapters to connect the T-Tech machine to the transmission (go figure  ). At least ask them what exactly they are going to do.

If you want to do a complete flush (if they aren't) either find a place (transmission shop or another Toy dealership) that has all the right Toyota connection hardware for the T-Tech or maybe do it yourself. Most of the prices I have seen posted for a complete power flush have been between $80-$120. The Amsoil site has instructions on how to do it yourself if you want to go that route. Amsoil Tranny Flush instructions.

Hopefully Gadget, Jalaber or somebody with more experience in this will add more.
