Going price for a 95-00 4wd, v6, extra cab truck . . .

So I've decided to upgrade from my pos 1993 2wd Toyota. It runs good, drives straight as an arrow, but man its been hit in the front, doesn't have a straight body panel on it, and has been painted by a previous mentally ill owner with flat black house paint.

I've been looking for a nice, good looking, low mile 95-00 4wd truck. I'd consider a pre-runner truck if it came along with a bargin price. The damn thing I've realized with the trucks, is that 4wd models are worth double 2wd models with similar miles in similar condition. IE a decent high mile 2wd is about 3k, 4wd its like 6 to 8k.

Seriously, this is the best thing I have found within 300 miles of the Nashville TN area, yet it makes me

Its been on craigslist for 17 days, which means he's asking way too much for his clapped out pos. I doubt a 20 year old black truck looks anywhere near that good in the flesh as it does in those pictures. Its probably faded/swirled to hell with dings and scatches all over.

EDIT: I'd be all over that truck if he were asking 7k for it. Hell I'd probably give him 7k for it if it looked that damn good in person as it does in the pictures.

Also, I'd love me a 4wd T100, but so far I've found zero decent T100's. Found a couple of nice 93's and 94's, but I will not own a truck with that POS SOCH V6 Toyota put in them from 88 to 94.

I normally go by blue book value. Then up or down depending on mods, rigged parts, etc and just my opinion on what it's worth. You never get back what you have in something. Him saying he's got 10k in it doesn't mean anything as a buyer

Red face

Offer them $6,500 after looking at it up close.

Then we are all different I bought a 2000 Tacoma for $8000.00 put another $3000.00 into after I got it home. i think it had 125,000 miles.

The only down side is the Hot Pink paint job but that does not effect performance.

In December 2010, I bought a 1999 Tacoma Limited (V6 4WD) with 122k for $4500 private party. The truck was a little bit of a mess when I bought it. Looked like it hadn't had regular maintenance for who knows how long, the check engine light was on, the truck had virtually no power, and overall it was a little bit "iffy."

I pulled the trigger because the 4WD worked and I had a sneaking suspicion the power issues were just MAF related. I figured the generally poor state of nearly every engine seal would require at least a seal swap and possibly a rebuild (it did, which cost me another $2k). All in all, I put about $6500 into it in order to get it to be a serviceable daily driver and capable off-road companion.

In my area, that was a STEAL. Every comparable truck I have found has been at least $2000 more even when going through a private party. However, my brother-in-law lives in Idaho, and he got the SR5 version of my truck for $6500 in near-mint condition with less than 100k miles just a couple of months after I bought mine, and he said there were a handful of similar deals in his vicinity.

The price of used vehicles can depend greatly on where you are, but I wouldn't expect to pay anything less than $6k, and more realistically I would budget $7500-$8500 for a decent truck. It's amazing how these Tacos hold their value through the years.

FYI, I just did a quick craigslist search for AZ, capped the listings at $9k, private party only, and I'm coming back with only 1 result I would consider promising: http://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/4781614406.html

If I was in the market, I'd buy that truck in a heartbeat.
