Getting Noisy . . .
My 98 V6 Runner is getting progressively noisier.
At idle, it is just really loud.
It sounds like pullys, or bearings in pullies or something. Kindof of a metal squeeking sound. I dont know where it is coming from, or if I just need to change my belt or what.
You guys know if there is something on the 3.4 that tends to go out, or what would be causing all the noise?
Oh yeah. 80k miles.
Oh, and another quick Q:
Do I have to go to the dealer to get antifreeze for this thing?
TIA,
Dave

It sounds like a problem I had with the belts and pulleys I had on my 3.0
I'm not sure if it was misalignment of a pulley or what, but I used a spray-on product called Belt-Ease. It would stop the noise for a while (or reduce it to more of a "clicking" sound) but would cause it to return a few days or weeks later as bad as, if not worse than, before. At least it confirmed it was a belt vs. something more serious. My "fix" was T-boning some jerk that ran a stop sign. The repairs included new pulleys and belts.
