Yes, I tried search..and yes I looked at all the charts..
first of all I bought my rig new and have no idea how she came..I do not know if the original owner put differint toyota wheels on it..I know these are not the tires she had on her.

but I can not tell my gear ratio.
my VZN185L-GKPGKA could come with three gear ratios
3.909
4.100 ( with the P265/70R16s)
4.300 (Option)

here is my door info.
C/TR 056/FA45
A/TM A03A1
A340F
the door says it came with P225/75/15. This seems so way off..this rig would look so silly with such small tires.
the wheels I have on her are the typical wheels for the 2001s
265/70R16



and again, I know this has been beat into the floor..but I really have been trying to figure it ouw with the search and with many other sites..heck, I even called my local Toyota dealer and he couldn't figure it out with my Vin #

help me out, Did you buy it new? or used? you said new, but then said you don't know if the original owner put different tires on. if you bought it new, do you still have the window sticker?

Jack up your vehicle so 1 tire is off the ground. Put your vehicle in neutral. Mark the drivshaft universal with a felt pen or anything really.Put a mark on the lifted wheel at 12 oclock. Rotate the wheel so the driveshaft turns. Count how many revolutions the driveshaft makes by turning the wheel 1 revolution. If you mark your driveshaft so the mark is at 12 oclock and also the tire marked at 12 oclock. You should be able to determine your gear ratio fairly acurately. Example...If your driveshaft rotates just over 4 revolutions per 1 revolution of the wheel. Its 4.10/1

the only problem right this second is that I do not have any jack other then the one that came with the car..and I really do not want to get under the rig with that thing..

I plan on getting a nice big 3 1/2 ton jack here soon...I thought someone had an easy way to gigure it out with the #s

well, if you know your tire size, your transmission ratio, your transfer case ratio, and what rpms your running at what mph, you can figure it out (but i don't think you know all of those???)

For what it's worth, my door info is the same and my rig had 4.10s.

Confirming the codes by counting the wheel revolutions is the best bet, then you know for sure. Just get a couple jack stands and use the factory jack.

If your codes are the same..and you have 4.10..I can assume that I also have 4.10

If you have the axle code of your vehicle, it is easy to find out what size differential, what ratio, and what pinion set-up you have. This will also help if you are hunting for a particular unit off another vehicle. The axle code is in the vehicle ID plate under the hood or drivers door. The axle code is 4 digits: a letter followed by 3 numbers.

Example: F372 = 7.5" 3.58 final ratio 2 pinion

but look at my codes.
they do not seem to fit.

I highly doubt that
and the other letters and #s do not work..

You have an auto tranny with a 7.5" front and a 8" rear, your gear ratio is 4:10's
