Gas mileage is way up with Aisin hubs
I filled up this morning. I keep very close records of my gas mileage and calculate it every time I fill up. I have always averaged 16.8 to 17.1 MPG previously (my normal mixed city/highway). This morning on my first fillup with the Aisin manual hubs I got 18.4 MPG.
Now I'm kicking myself since my driver side rear tire was 5 PSI low until this weekend when I topped it off. There is a very good change my average could have been 18.6 or better since I've seen up to .5 MPG differences before when I had a tire that low. Anyone else notice big gas mileage increases with manual hubs?

Wow, that is a pretty nice increase in MPG with the hubs. I maybe noticed a 0.5 mpg increase after I put the Aisin's on, but not a 1.3 mpg increase like you got. Lucky you!!

I noticed a huge difference in power and acceleration when the hubs were swapped. I went back to my "turtle" driving habits as soon as I got over the power increase and that may be a big reason why the mileage increased so much.
I swapped the hubs at about half a tank and at my next fillup my average was 17.6 MPG so I knew better things were in store on my next tank of stricly unlocked hubs. I'm hoping this translates to 24 MPG strictly highway mileage.

Hmm, around here the gas stations switch from oxygenated fuel (Winter blend) to Summer blend non-oxy around March 1st. I usually notice a 10% improvement in fuel economy then. Any chance that might've happened in your area too?

Interesting idea about the oxygenated fuel. I think we are still on oxygenated fuel for another month or two.
I run my tires at 38 front and 40 rear. Seems to be the best compromise. I get a firm ride but not jarring and at 40 PSI rear I notice that there is less rolling resistance - the truck accelerates noticably easier. I've debated going back down to 38 in the rear to smooth it out but now with the new springs and shocks there is no more hopping with potholes or bumps.

I noticed a small gain in mpg when I switched to manual hubs. I'm very close to +2 mpg ave. w/ an auto tranny. The biggest change I've noticed, was in the way the rig steers. It feels like a different rig. Best way to describe it.... it felt like the front end "plowed through turns" I like the mod. Very happy I did this one.

Mileage Gain
Hey guys,
I have checked the MPG after changing out the hubs. I have an AT and I seemed to have jumped from 14.6 to 15.6.
I am hoping it was only 1MPG because my leadfoot wife was driving it.............
Of course with those stock 4.88's I doubt I could ever get much better..........

I have no appreciable mileage, speed, acceleration or any other sort of sensory improvement and I have had these hubs for almost 3 years.
If you blindfolded me, locked my hubs and did not tell me, there is no way that I could tell.
