front end aligning plate?

Does anybody know wher I can get the plate that the alignment adjusting bolt goes?It is in the bottom right of the picture.Mine was pounded on by the previous owner and now that is the only part of the front end that can't be aligned.I have to cut the old one off and weld the new one in place.the left edge is flat instead of having that lip for the bolt to stop on.

The dealer may carry them, but its pretty easy to make your own. I had to do that when I screwed one up on my '97...

If it is stock (no suspension lift) you might try a slavage yard first. Mine is a Superlift part and they quit making my lift, so I had to fix mine with a little TIG welding.

Well I tried the dealer and they want a wopping $500.00 for it,and then take to a shop that can do frame work to weld it on.I thought about a wrecking yard but they would have to cut the other one off, wouldn't that warp it or could I use a die grinder?.I would rather get it cheaper then at the dealer.Any idea what that piece is called?

So are you talking about that lip that holds the adjustment cam in place? If so I would just weld a new lip on there. Or are you talking about the adjustment cam, (the off centered washer that the bolt goes through)?

Just the lip.The cam won't adjust to where they need it.The lip on the left side is bent out.

Yeah if you can't weld, I'm sure a good body shop could repair that for you. I looked at mine and it appears that little channel shaped plate is just welded on to that support bracket coming off the frame. If you can't find a junk yard that will to let you cut one off a wreck, I would make one out of some scrap steel and weld it on or depending on how badly its damaged just weld up a ridge and grind a new lip to hold the cam in place.

Don't know exactly how he's going to do it,and that is worse case.It beats paying 500 for the plate and then having to have it welded.

You're welcome. I recently spent some time in a body shop and I was amazed at some of the things they were doing. One car they were cutting out the whole front part of the frame and welding in a new section of frame.
