I have a TJM on the runner and I’m getting ready to mount some lights. I’m planning on going with some Cibie aux lights (1 pencil, 1 driving) in the middle. I really want some fogs as well but can’t seem to fit them. My idea is to use some Hella Micro DE’s (good reviews) and cut some round holes next to the flashers. Does anyone have an experience with this or see any problems? I also want to mount some shackles so I will need to find a different spot.

TJM makes a kit that allows the use of hella fogs in place of the turn signals.

Not to confuse the issue, but as an alternate suggestion (depending on which TJM you have), mount something larger up top. I ended up getting Lightforce 170's and mounted them here:

Yes, TJM does make a mounting bracket to put fog lights in the stock flasher location, however you will still have to cut the bumper to get them to fit. It's just a question of how/where do you want to cut. I used the TJM mounts (thanks Ryan for posting my link) and I'm very happy with it. I think the mounting hardware is a little pricey for what it is, but it works well and looks good. Wiring up the corners for turn signal duty is very easy, so don't let that deter you. Using the stock flasher location for fogs allowed me to put my driving lights in the center hoop on my T15. I'm very happy with the setup.

Just make sure you seal the exposed metal if you cut. I used silicon, but there are other ways of doing it. Otherwise the bumper will rust in a hurry.

Thanks for the info. I say the replacement brackets and really liked them for the style. I've been talking to Daniel Stern who seems to really know what he's talking about when it comes to lighting. When I proposed the FF75 in the signal indicators he said the Hella FF75 where little more than decoration. I spend a lot time in the mountains during rain and snow and can't afford to poor performing fog lights. I would love to mount them on top but I'm planning on putting the Cibie's in the middle. It sounds like there aren’t any really issues cutting a couple 2" holes in the bumper next to the turn indicators.

I spend a lot of time on back country roads in rain/snow/fog/etc, and I'm very happy with the FF75s.

The TJM kit is for replacing the turn signals with the Hellas. you would then wire the corner lights as signals.

Funny, why on earth why would he claim a product he sells (profit) is better then a competing product.

Now dont get me wrong, he does certainly seem to know what he's talking about. But remember who would profit from a sale. Always follow the money. Hella's website seems to think a little better about their lights. I just dont know who to believe.

Actually both the Micro DE and the FF75 are both Hella and he doesn't sell either. He big grip is the size. The laws of physics can't be broken. I have friends in Europe and I've seen what they use on their cars for a reason, which is why I huntd down someone who sells Cibie.

Don't waste your money on Micro DE's. They are about the worst fog lights you can buy. Their performance isn't bad, but good luck making them last longer than a year. Search this or any 4Runner site and see what I mean.
