flushing power steering?
after looking through my shop manuals, i couldn't find how to flush out the power steering fluid on my '79 toy
i really don't want to run that brownish stuff that looks more like 90w than ATF, i wouldn't be suprised if it was the original stuff from the factory
anybody know how to flush it out and put new stuff in?

I had a problem with major leaks in the steerin pump. Upon numerous inspections i noticed some white foam after it gets hot, that might be water. I used a pump to remove the old fluids and replaced it with lucas power steering fluid. It is designed to improve the rack and pinion performance along with stopping the leak. Get a pump and a bottle of lucas from autozone and try that.

that's what i've heard. but although it works great, it kind of worries me that the same fluid has probably been in there since carter was president
i might just get a quart of mobil1 and use the turkey baster method to bleed/flush the system
