Flex fan question. NOT flex-a-lite/electric fan

Any one have experiance with this type of fan? From website:

"...Fans pull additional air through the radiator at low RPMs when the speed of the vehicle is not enough to cool the engine's coolant system. At higher RPMs, when the vehicle's speed forces ample air through the radiator, the fan blades flatten out, resulting in less power being used to spin the fan. Engine performance and gas mileage are thus improved."

Seemed interesting. Would this fan wear out and damage (hit) the radiator?

i did a little bit of research on this before... and from what everyone said on here, the current clutch system that toyota uses is far superior to the flexing fan.....

a clutch fan is more efficient than a flex fan.
