fixed my dash clock (maybe)

After looking for a replacement for my non functional dash clock I gave up. In part I didn't want to turn loose of $$$$ that may or may not buy another working clock. I figured if I bought another used one It would just crap out like the one already in my truck.

I installed an aftermarket CD player & figured while I was in there I'd give the clock a look over. I removed it from the dash & found nothing loose inside the cover & nothing burned on the circuit board. I removed the front cover first (watch out for three gray rubber pieces that are behind the buttons, mine fell out). I pushed up against the LCD & the clock lit up. When I released pressure it went out again. I thought it can't hurt to push harder so I bent the LCD upward ever so slightly & the display stayed on. I reassembled the dash & it continues to work. I know nothing about electronics so if this points anyone who does in the right direction to what the actual problem is, post up.

My factory clock wasn't working either when I first bought my 4Runner a few months back. When I went and did the install on my new stereo though, I took a test light and checked all of the wires in the factory clock harness. Everything showed good so I re-installed everything and the clock has been working ever since.
Double check the factory wires to the back of the clock, and make sure that when the harness is pluged in, that there is good contact between the prongs. It sounds like you have a hot disconnect.

Hope this helps.

when I bought my T4R in march it already had a custom deck in it, could the clocks wiring harness have been messed up when the deck was installed? (hope Im not hijacking this thread...)
