First major issue w/ my 3rd gen - AC Clutch

I'm not complaining, just sharing my first "major" issue w/ my 3rd gen. About three weeks ago, I heard a weird whirring noise in the engine compartment and it only got louder as time went by. Went to my buddy's shop and lo and behold, it sounded like an ac clutch.

Couldn't find the part on the same day and aftermarket only sold the full compressor. Waited a day and $200 later, the truck is sounding just fine. The bearings in the clutch blew as he expected. My buddy was able to change the ac clutch w/o evacing the system. I'm still getting cold air so I'm not that worried about it unless someone tells me I should be worried.

Since I hadn't changed my front belts since new, these went as well.

BTW, the truck has 110k miles.

over tension of the belt will cause this wear. at least i think the bearing on the friction plate was what you replaced.

glad you swap it out b4 it might seize.
