FIPK in 03 Tacoma 3.4l V6 - Questions
Has anyone installed one or have one on there truck? I just installed mine and had some questions.
When I installed it the instructions said on the 03 you would plug one of the holes on the tube since the engine doesnt have both tubes... however, my engine did have both tubes so I hooked them both up.. Is this correct?
I just took it for a spin and it feels pretty good overall, but from almost a dead stop if I floor it it seems to shift later.. it shifts at like 4500rpm and feels a bit odd (I think?)... I didnt know if it was something relating to the tubes. I took them off one by one and when I took the bigger one off that goes to the right side of the engine it definetley didnt feel good. So I put that one back on and took the smaller one that seems to go to the top of the engine off it felt almost the same, but I might be mistaken?
Can someone help me out?

I really couldn't tell you if the install is correct BUT the later shift in the RPMs is normal. You may want to consider pulling out the EFI fuse for 20 min. or so. Some people insist that resetting it will allow the truck's computer to "learn" the new intake.
When I did the deckplate mod I revved higher in the RPMS before shifting for about 1 1/2 tanks of gas.

yea, I just talked to a few friends of mine that are mechanics and they say its just getting too much air right now and the computer hasn't had a chance to relearn yet...
Does pulling the fuse actually help? I'm not really sure where it even is.. I know nothing about cars

Alright...
anyone with my exact truck/engine have any experience with this? I'm still kinda confused with the discrepancy in the instructions.
And does pulling the ECU fuse help repgrogram it?

hmm.. its been like 2 days now and its still running kinda ˟˟˟˟ty... from a stop if I hit it hard it'll sound like it hits rev limiter for a second and then it'll take off.... hopefully the computer is still just learning or whatever

I'm not trying to be annoying or anything.. but I'm about to drive like 400 miles in the morning... so does anyone have any ideas, suggestions, comments or whatever?

dude, if it's only been 2 days and you haven't driven too much just relax and let it run it's course. You got to give it a little more time than that.

Ok, thats what I was wondering. Talking to other friends with experience with cars (not toyotas), they were saying after about 200 miles it should be more than enough.. But browsing around here I was seeing otherwise. I guess I'll see how it is after driving another 200 miles in the morning.

Just pull the fuse. It won't hurt anything. It's in the engine bay fuse box. I don't remember which one. Do a search or see if the manual or fuse cover says where it is. I pulled mine after installing the S/C. A lot of people thinks it helps. It just makes the comp relearn faster.

If you can't find the fuse. Disconnect your battery for about 15 min and turn on your headlights. The headlight thing drains the little bit of juice left. then connect the battery. You might have to reset your radio stations. Simple though. That should reset your comp for your new K&N.

If you ever go off road, pull the thing out and stick your stock airbox back in. I learned this the hard way.
Also when I installed mine, it said to disconnect the battery terminals in the begining of the instructions, and at the end it said to rehook them. That should fix any problems you have, and mine felt normal within 100 miles
