Finally....I get my first toyota!!! 1985 pickup
1985 4x4 Long bed standard cab pick-up
251,000 miles on OD
22R completely rebuilt professionally at 226,000
32/36 Weber carb and a Hedman Header
Brand new brake master cyclinder
Top end was rebuilt
4" Skyjacker suspension lift
2" body lift
Almost new BFG/MT on Black steel wheels with 2.5" Backspacing
Badlands Basher bumper
bed bobbed 10" shorter
5:29 gears
Diamond Delta tool box over the rails in back
The bodies in poor shape, oxidation, rust, dents, but nothing serious. Dirty inside, but who cares, ill clean it later.
As far as it running well, it does...it needs that shift seat replacemnt (shifting is really really sloppy, but gears are smooth)
Brakes are soft...slows....but not very quickly. Im thinking the drums need to be tightened, but the E brake cable is also snapped.
The clutch releases right at the floor, which is pain. Its loud, dirty, and mean, and I love it
It was cheap, lets say, a bit less than 3k

Man, that sounds great. Congrats. Most toys end up in that state sooner or later, look beat but will still run with anything. I think when you really beat on a vehicle you see what's made of. I see 10 year old lincolns & caddy's all the time around here, belching smoke (no emmisions tests), the old beat toy pu's i see look like they've been used hard & still seem to run great. Again, congrats. You sound psyched.

Yeah im pretty stoked...had it been bone stock I probably wouldnt have bought it and held out for something nicer, but considering the 35x12.5 BFG/MTs, 5.29s, and lift, its worth 3k...which I didnt even pay
Im pretty stoked...now just to find the shift bushing to replace...

Yeah its a long bed, with the bed bobbed 10" shorter! pretty sweet...
Problem #1 already cropped up...starters bad, or something similar...it wont turn over the first oh, 20 or so tries, its totally random when its cold...starter doesnt even turn, just "click" as you turn the key...eventually it goes. Once its warm it seems to start up every time. This truck sat for a very very long time, barely ever driven, so im hoping im just working out the kinks.
So other than the shifter bushing thing, I have to get a new starter, cap and rotor, and maybe plugs, and it should be 100%.
Ill have to say, I love driving this thing around...its my daily driver...blasphemy I know, but its still fun as hell. Ive always preferred utility over beauty!

That's a great looking truck! It looks to me like with a little body work and a paint job it would really be a sweet truck. There is a pile of money just in the lift and the tires. A little mechanical work and some TLC and that truck will be a winner. Congrats on a great find. Mike
