fiberglass plate to hold ipod in cubby hole above cupholders

going to soon make something like this to hold my video and my nano ipods when in the car.

i had circuitcity pull my cable from my headunit in from a hole through the cubby hole.

how hard is it to fiberglass a piece.. my dad said to make a molding using styrafoam.

here is what im talking about

here is what i plan to do

sorry for the bad drawing but i didnt want to put much time into it.. im not photoshop helpless just lazy.

one problem is that the video is too wide for the casing so it would have to be raised just a bit or the ipod would have to be angled somewhat to fit.. id probablly raise it with some sort of bevel.

just thought id get some peoples input

and sorry if i put in wrong forum

Sounds like a cool idea, but I guess I'm confused on which cubby hole you're talking about.

Do plan on covering the depression where that controller is in Jason's pic?

the one beside the handbrake kinda vertical. the one with the controller is way too small.

Ooooh, ok. Then the Ipod would be horizontal and you could look down at the screen. That sounds really cool

Mine takes residence in the front cup holder which is a inconvenience if two people have drinks but it works since my iPod doesn't stay in the truck unless I'm in it.
