Your gonna want to get rid of the rust first off, otherwise its just going to get worse!

Definitely fix/patch the rust before you cover it up - it will get worse otherwise.

In terms of a new fender - if all you're doing is cutting a piece of diamond plate, it can be done (farily easily too) if you have the right tools.

If your looking at fixing the font fenders, Just go out and buy new ones. Their only $50 +/-.

As for the Diamond plate, unless you have an english wheel you will not be able to form the curves.

When I was shopping around for Diamond Plate to finish off my "Chop" I came across Aluminum Diamond Plate that was pretty thin. and formable

You could cut this stuff with tin snips.... I was thinking of using this stuff as a sort of rock guard along the bottom of the doors. So I don’t see a problem using it for fender trim.

You will however want to at LEAST cut the rust out and seal it instead of just covering it up

You can give it a try but unless your a bodyman or a "metal" guy your really going to have a problem getting a complex curv out of an arc.

I covered my rust over with these flares for now.

http://store.yahoo.com/rodi/pac52170.html

Not sure what I am going to do yet, adapt new 1/4's from the pickup ones available or just cut away and make new inner fender wells to fit the 35's or 37's i am going to run. It's nice to have the tools and can't wait to finish my new shop in my backyard.
