Fan Clutch Issues

I just called the dealer and they want $180 for a fan clutch for my '92 3.0. The guy said he'd hook me up for $140. I've read some posts where some guys got their's for like $60 bucks! Anyone know where I could get an Aisin for a good price or am I just gonna have to spend the big bucks? Can the bearing be replaced or the unit rebuilt? It was just changed last year.

I just called Kragen and they sell a brand new fan clutch "Hayden Brand" for $70 bucks. I know it's not OEM but it's half the price with a lifetime warranty. Anyone used any "Hayden" brand or other aftermarket fan clutches with good results?

thanks

I think mine (22RE) ran about $70 at my local dealer w/ TLCA discount. THis was after a NAPA unit blew up after about a year's use.

Clutch can also be rebuilt or at least re-filled with oil:

Don't know where you live, but I got my fan clutch from Champion Toyota here in Houston, for ~$80 - 90 bucks. My Toyota water pump from them was ~$60 bucks. Found the pricing online and called and ordered.

There are some Toyota Parts websites you can try. Heck, call Champion Toyota in Houston (my location was the Gulf Freeway), and ask...

Good Luck,
James

will 94 4runner fan clutch work with 92 22re pickup

have a fan clutch from a 94 4runner and my fan clutch in 22re is bad. The fan blade doesnt mount the same but if I get a different blade will the 4runner clutch work ok. not sure on the specs and temp differences.

Spend your money on an electric fan and controller. Dump the mechanical fan. You'll thank me for it later.

Red face

Interesting and I seem to go the opposite way and take the electric fans off and go back to the engine driven :jessica:
