factory alarm buzzer help

Hi,
I've read all posts concerning the RS3200 alarm system (I believe that is my factory alarm for the 2001 Toyota 4Runner) and couldn't find the answer.

I'm trying to turn that Piezo buzzer OFF everytime I arm/disarm. Is it possible? Please help.

Procedure:
1. Make sure key is not in key cylinder, and have one door opened.

2. Press "UNLOCK" button and hold for more than 5 seconds and (per FSM timing diagrams, continue holding the unlock button down until it is released in step 4.) When the mode has switched to "Volume adjustment mode", the beeper will sound 2 times, and your are ready to do step 3a or 3b.

3. For:
a) Volume Down: Press the "Back Window Open" switch while continuing to hold "unlock switch" down from step 2.
b) Volume Up: Press the "Lock" switch while continuing to hold the "unlock" switch down from step 2.
5 volume levels can be set. Initial volume is set to the intermediate level.

4. Cancel the "Unlock" switch. (means release the unlock button, you have kept held down from step 2). When the mode is changed to "Normal Mode" the buzzer sounds two times.

If it's still too loud, just put a piece of tape over the beeper under th hood.

For those who have the FSM, and everyone should , the section pertaining to the alarm is BE-79 (2). The 2 stands for volume 2 of the set.

I was wondering the same thing about the alarm in my 03 Tacoma, it makes no mention whatsoever as being able to turn off or turn down the beep when unlocking and locking the doors.
Anyone know if there's any procedures for the Tacoma's alarm

Well ....
I spoke too soon. Although I gave the correct FSM section for the theft deterrent system; as far as I can see, it does not list the procedure that Jason outlined. I thought that maybe I would find it in my '99 FSM, since I was refering to my '02 FSM, but the section/information is the same in both and I still couldn't find it

Jason, where is the information you paraphrased loctated?

It's in the alarm installation manual. This doesn't come with the truck.

Ah Ha.
Is this the Toyota alarm that is in my '02 Limited, among others? How can I get a copy of that manual? What would I be asking for or ordering from parts guy?
Thanks for the information.

Yes, that will do it.

Here is the operations manaul.

To get in the "install" manual, you will have to order it from Toyota.

Jason B,

I followed your instruction and it did NOT work. I have 2001 toyota 4runner...not sure if it is the same instruction??? I tried it several times..the "sound" was stil the same. When pressing down the "unlock" button and the back window button, I heard "beep" but it was NOT the same beep as when you "arm/disarm" the car. The beep is a light beep as compare to the confirmation arm/disarm beep. When arming/disarming, the beep seems to sound like a horn short beep (one for arming, two for disarming -> horn sound).

Any idea? Thx.
john

I know someone out there has done this...

ALL THE PREVIOUS MANUAL LINKS ARE GREAT, BUT THEY DO NOT ADDRESS THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING CONFIRATION HORN.

I tried holding the unlock down and setting the volume tone, but it doesn't seem to affect the sound of the confirmation beep/horn sound.

I have a 2000 with a rs3200. The closest dealer 70 miles away and says the alarm is programmable but they don't know how to do it.

I haven't locked my car in months since I live in a small mountain town, and get the evil eye everytime my car beeps. (Like I am trying to draw attentyion to myself...)

Can anyone please help turn this function off. I am ready to disable the alarm all together. I don't need the alarm but the remote function is nice to have.

Dave

I have the exact same alarm and want to do the same (disable the horn confirmation). I purchased instructions off of ebay, but only got directions to add a new remote (waste of money for my requirements). It was sold as an instruction manual, and was only one page of directions. Save you money.

Bottom line is I need the same info.

I wanted to know if anyone has solved this. I also have a 2003 tacoma with the VIP RS3200 factory alarm. I want to know if I can disable the chirps, or change them to horn honks, or something.... The chirp sucks, it sounds like a really loud digital wrist-watch chirp. Anyone solve this one yet?? The instructions in this thread are for 4runners. Thanks.

Before you pay any money for manuals, check this thread (https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...threadid=15674) to see if you can get what you need for just a phone call.

How has it worked for you? You have a tacoma, right? Not a 4runner?

Re: factory alarm buzzer help I FOUND THE SOLUTION!

I found the solution! I found it here, http://www.customtacos.com/tech/inde...x_v2&id=34&c=6. Just unplug the tweeter. I now have a silent keyless entry, thank god! That chirp sucks!
