Hey, I'm starting to add some goodies to my truck like a lift and new tires, but I have a problem. My muffler has a gaping hole in it from rust, so im looking for a new cat back. Ive looked and looked but I cant find a system for my truck, which is a 97' 2.7 4x4 single cab. I can find ones for the 2wd 2.4 and the extended cab v6, but not mine. If anybody knows where i can get one, Id be really appreciative.

Downey offroad maybe, LCE, or ide just buy a flowmaster and have a shop weld it on or DIY if you can

yea just go to your local muffler shop and have them put on something, thats what i did. cost me 210 for muffler, new piping, and two 3 inch tips.

i have a flowmaster 40 series, but since you have a 2.7 i'd go with the 50 series if the shop has it. single in dual out should work good, here is a picture of mine on a 4runner

the single in dual out is for the looks and doesnt help with anything. It makes for more work and cost (plus if you have a under spare youll have to take it down too) but if you like the look of it hell go for it.

Thats also true but once you get to extreme wheeling like i do you dont want the top wieght

Its all personal prefrence IMO so do what ever it is you want to do. I really do like the look of your exhaust setup it looks sick

what abou cutting my old muffler out, and putting a flowmaster or magnaflow in it with gaskets instead of welding?

Ummm You could cut off you original muffler (youll still have to weld) Cut off the brackets used after the cat and weld them to the new muffler.(your going to have to add tubing to make a flowmaster or magnaflow as long as stock) make the muffler as long as stock with tubing, weld the old mounts on and add a hanger also to mount after the muffler in its stock location and weld the old remaining pipe to the back of the muffler thus using prety much all stock minus the muffer and some tubing. Does that make sence??? (welding is going to have to be done unless you use cheezy tube adaptors )

I just ordered a magnaflow xl that 24'' overall, the old muffler i have on there now is 22''. Wouldnt I be able to just cut it real close to the muffler, either use clamps or weld it to the old pipes, and then just weld the old brackes on or make some new ones?

Yep, that's what you would wanna do! Just weld it back onto the old pipes, preferrably, I guess you COULD clamp...

And you would probably be better off replacing the old brackets...
