How do you like the sound?
My first car back in '75 was a '68 Chevelle with a 327 in it, and I had duel 'packs put on it, and later I put on Appliance headers.
You don't see these to much anymore being put on rigs.
Stan's Headers a local performance exhaust shop (who did my Magnaflow) swears by them, and he put one on his wife's V6 Toyota truck, and it did sound nice.
Much throatier than my Magnaflow for sure.

It doesnt have that "popping" sound under acceleration that you hear with some V8's. I just cant believe that people dont run these things more. Talk about a bargain.
I am not saying this competes performance-wise with say, TRD exhaust, because I have not dynoed it. But, for $ savings you can buy headers.

Where are they located? I need to find a shop to install headers and don't feel like going to the "stealer". If anyone knows of a decent shop in the Phoenix area(preferably N-NW PHX)???

Will do. My friend and I will shoot the footage of me doing a 130MPH fly-by this week. Ok, not that fast. But I will run it through the first 4 gears for everyone's listening enjoyment.

I've always wondered why more people on the forum don't use glasspacks. It seems like it's very free flowing. And, you said that you have a better throttle response and top end.
I might have to look into that.

Yep, Stan has been in the bizz for a long time.
I first dealt with him back around '93.
I had a new cat back setup put on my '90 truck with a 22RE.
The following week I went back to get one of his imfamous Try-Y headers for it.
That little engine had lots of spunk afterwards.
While BS'n with him back then, he told me he use to build Downeys headers a long time ago for them.
His shop is not to far from me, and next time I need exhaust work, I'll be right back there again.
Good quality work.
I first dealt with him back around '93.

Why not use a glasspack?
I like the bargain hunter approach. Why not use one of these? I was under the impression that gains from an exhaust upgrade were minimal, with most of the benefit coming from the sound resonating from the tailpipe. What are the real-world differences between this type of upgrade and a $500 SS cat-back exhaust?
What did they do about losing the offset from the stock muffler? Did they play around with your pipes to align everything?

It's all about FREE flow. Why start the FREE flow after the most restrictive components … the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter(s)? 
The catback systems are all about tone and EGO … Bling Bling. 
I bought the TRD system because I wanted a TRD system with a TRD exhaust tip that had TRD imprinted on it. That was worth +$500 to me. Was it worth it? Yes … and NO! Does it sound good?

Actually, the length of the glasspack was darn near perfect. So, its the cut when removing the stock muffler that's important. No modifications should have to be done to the glasspack itself, except the welding on of 2 exhaust hangers. Only a new welder could screw this one up.
I think a more expensive exhaust system ($500) will yield slightly better HP gains than the glasspack. With the glasspack you are retaining the stock pipe cat-back. And, as you know, with a new system you are getting a mandrel bent cat back system, which will reduce restriction, thus improving HP slightly over the glasspack. But is the slight gain worth $400+ dollars? In my book no. The sound of the glasspack is phenomenal in my opinion. And knowing how much you saved, makes it sound even sweeter.
Like I said before, you could get headers with the money savings. Of course, install is a whole new ballgame!

does that guy make headers for a 3.4 L t-100 , any one have a way to contact him by email , its getting harder and harder to find headers for the t-100 . and id still like ot get some .

you know i didnt click the thing before because i jsut thought it was highlighted , duh , you know whats even better , this guy is in seatttle , which is close enough to me , that if can build me a set of headers ill be happy

apparently thats the case , the space between the firewall and the engine . trd ,or whoever makes theres , isnt making them anymore for the t. i guess i just waited to long , but i sent that stan guy a nemail and maybe he will be able to custom make some headers .

What kind of $$$ would custom headers and install run? It's always been one of my mod ideas to get headers for my 3.0...it's also one of the first ones eliminated after the work that has to be done......

last time I spoke with Stan he said he would not make 3.0 headers, let aone install them.
The 3.0 engine has got to be one of the most difficult engines to install headers on from what I hear.
He does have the 22RE ones in stock he makes in shop though.
