erratic shifting
I have a 2002 4runner 3.4 V6 4WD. 142000 miles, new factory reman trans 5000 miles ago.
My problem is when the vehicle is cold, it shifts great, after I get up to speed, occasionally it will downshift one without any pedal input or hills (between 60 -70) rpms will jump from 2200 or so to about 3000. I thought it was O/D disengaging, but I press that button and it downhsifts again.
This does not happen everytime I drive it. My commute is about six miles so after I slow down and stop, when i restart it seems to shift ok.
I'm thinking it could be the throttle position sensor, because as I am driving, I let off the pedal and the rpm's fall to about 1000 at speed.
How do I test the TPS, there are no idiot lights lit, could there still be a fault code stored? Thanks for a reply.
