Engine Ticking

Well my engine is not running properly right now. It started acting like it was misfiring when the engine was cold. After it warms up it doesn't do it. I recently replaced the plugs because it was about that time. I replaced the plug wire not to long ago. Toyota wires and Denso plugs, ran Denso last time and NGK's all before that. Now I notice that the engine has some sort of ticking sound when at idle. When the engine speeds up, the ticking speeds up with it. I am at school right now and don't have access to my garage until I go home this weekend. By the way it the 3.4. Any suggestions as to what it might be?
Thanks

I though about the valves, but it doesn't really sound like a valve problem, at least from the ones I have dealt with.

Thanks for the heads up, like I said I won't be able to check anything until I get home this weekend.

Go out late at night when it's really dark and start it up and open the hood. Look for a spark from the wireing. It will make a ticking noise much like a loose valve. Make sure all your plugs are tight. Check belts too.

Yeah I rechecked the plugs last week and they are tight. I replaced belts not long ago and remember checking them recently but I will go back and look again. I'll take a look for some spark when it gets dark tonight.
Thanks

The only reason I suggested checking in the dark is because several years ago I replaced the plugs and wires in my old Chevy Suburban 4x4 and started hearing a ticking noise . Checked it at dark and sure enough one of the new wires was jumping a nice spark.
Hope you find that it's something simple, Good luck , Mike

Yeah me too, but with 190,000 mi on the odo, some things are bound to go wrong even if it is a Toyota. Just glad its not 90,000 mi like on some other ones
