engine knocking..

hey everyone, my trucks done this from the first time I test drove it 3 and 1/2 years ago.. when the engine is all the way warm, it'll make a pretty loud knocking sound that increases in speed as the rpms go up. It's most noticeable in 1st and 2nd gear under 20 mph.. could *crosses fingers* it be a bad knock sensor? and if so would that show up as an error code?

doesn't seem to effect performance, just souds really bad in parking lots.

another loud thing my truck does is this ticking sound from somewhere around the 02 sensor... I think that's an exaust leak, gonna have that looked at in the next few weeks also...

anyway have a good one guys, and thanks for any thoughts on the knock knock deal

I dunno I had knocking. I replaced all the rod bearing because the #1 rod end bearings had excessive wear. The easiest way to find out which rod end it is pull a spark plug from each of the cylinders with the engine running if the knock goes away when you pull the wire you found the rod end # with the problem.

Good luck.

Uhh... don't pull a spark plug from the engine while it's running. You'll end up with a dent/hole in your head/hood. I'm pretty sure he meant pull the spark plug WIRE while it's running.
