Engine is locked up
My engine apparently had an oil leak and seized up today at the mechanics. Their estimate is 2600-3000 to replace the engine. I've seen some people around here do swaps for about that. I was just wondering what the board recommends. Is it worth replacing with another 3vz-e? How much do swaps typically run? What do you guys recommend?

yeah - I really can't heartily recommend putting that much $$ into another 3.0 - I say do the 3.4 swap or if you are feeling a little adventurous look at the Advance Adapter kits for installing a Chevy or Ford motor. If you search, I have seen a couple posts of Chevota rigs that required some elbow grease - but worked out very well.
I guess the biggest thing would be if you plan on doing it yourself as a project, or if you had a good mechanic in mind that would be able to help. I think I wouldn't mind paying out the dough for an engine swap if it were done right....I can't find the thread for one of the guys on here with a new AWESOME setup from F2uning. Only thing is it's for a 3rd gen - not sure what options 2nd gens have...oh yeah - one thing with the swap either way is that the consensus seems to be that you would need a body lift to make sure there is enough space under the hood for new engine...
