Energy suspension or OEM bushings on my 99 runner?

Hey guys,
OE lower control arm bushings are pretty expensive. Has anyone used energy products instead ?

Thanks , kenny s

Plenty have used the poly bushings.
I don't recommend them, though. They'll squeak like an 80 year old door, no matter how many times you grease them.

It is an absolute pain in the butt to replace the bushings in the arms, anyway.
Think, sawzall, drill, torch, vice, pain.

Best and easiest thing to do is to buy complete lowers.
I don't recommend aftermarket arms.

Try toyotapartszone.com for discounted OE parts.
Even if you just replace the bushings, you'll save money with those guys.

the poly bushings will also contribute to some ride harshness because the poly bushings are hard so more of the forces are transmitted to the frame instead of being normally absorbed by the rubber bushings

Red face

I happen to like the Poly Bushings and use them when ever I replace anything

Yes they do transmit more vibration but I get used to it as for making noise my poor hearing does not hear it.

I just got the kit from pro thane, i didn't have any issues pushing out the old bushing, i used my shop press. i couldnt really say if they were squeaky or not as i have m/t tires and always have my radio going.
i noticed a huge improvement in steering response. my old ones were shot!!!

To use the energy suspension bushing you have to reuse part of your stock bushing. I bought the poly's only to find out that the bushing that were in my control arms weren't stock and I couldn't use them, so I just went and bought some oem ones.

The process wasn't that hard. You need a press or get creative with a bottle jack and a something that is just the right size to press the old bushing out. I used a large socket

Here's a good thread on it.
