EMERGENCY !!! Tdiddy or anyone in Iowa please read.

Adrian (cheese) will be rolling through Des Moines in 45 minutes from 2:00pm Pacific/Arizona time.

If anyone can help him, he's loosing gear lube out of the transfer case and the rear diff.

Call him on his cell phone: XXX-XXX-XXXX

If anyone knows how to get ahold of Tom please do so and point him to this post.

Thanks,

Steve

Talking Tom

Tom seems to be gone for the day as he signed off Yahoo Messenger and AIM earlier this afternoon as I recall. BUT I sent him an offline Yahoo Message so maybe he'll get back online and check it out as it directs him to this thread. Hope that helps!

Good luck and a bump!

I think as long as we keep it bumped up for the next 45 minutes or so, it will be fine.

Adrian has his phone turned off but you can still leave him a message.

We can't let the Cheese Melt !!!

I have been through this same thing. On the way back from Ouray I had to add Gear Oil to the front diff once an hour for 14 hours.

If I had only had the manual hubs back in 2002.

SHOOT. Sorry, I did cut out early today, and am just now getting back on. I left Adrian a voice mail, but he may be through the area already.

I told him to just keep filling up the gear oil and buy a 10mm hex head, which will fit the plugs Marlin uses.

Thanks for the try.

I ate up the last bit of charge I had talking to Mike to see what he thought about limping or taking another course of action.

I just got the message Corn King, thanks for the offer. I pulled over west of Des Moines and checked it again. At that point it became clear the gear oil smell was from the rear end, either the breather or an axle seal, so I filled that up a little bit more. The fluid dripping down the crawler was ATF, but there was no visible leak on the tranny, only spray onto the crawler, bellypan, gas tank skid and driveshaft. I stopped in Ames, ate at B-Bop's and found the crawler was full. I kept adding ATF every couple hours and things appear fine. I will take another look in the morning.

Thanks for posting this Steve, I have the yards and I am now off work for a while, so we should wrap that up.
