Emergency Brake light Comes on, Then Goes off. Ideas??
86' truck here!
I come to a stop and the light comes on.
I take off, and the light goes off.
Stop again, it comes on!
Any ideas??????????????
I just took out my dash to replace the heater core. I found an old clifford alarm system, so removed it all, and did some re-wiring.
Don't think I crossed any wires!
Tried to un-hook pos. battery cable to see if the electronics would reset it self.
Didn't work.
Any ideas???????????? :pat:

maybe your e-brake cable is loose and the common stop and go situation would move the lever in the cab. There's a push button sensor there that turns on and off the e-brake light. Next time it comes on...push the e-brake in and see if your light turns off...if so, check your e-brake line...it's not tight.
i drive an '84 so it might be different on your rig...then again maybe not. My e-brakes are seized in my rear drums...which appears to be a common problem i'm noticing. So my cable is disconnected and my light comes on time to time...i just push the lever in and the light turns off.
hope this is your problem...cause this has to be the most simplistic check/diagnostic ever.

How many volts are you getting out of the alternator at idle? My truck was doing this just before the alternator died. Don't know why the brake light comes on instead of the ALT or the CE light, but Toyota wiring has always confused me.

I think I found the problem.
I have a normal and power buttons, neither were engage.
Pushed the normal and the brake light hasn't come on anymore.
Still keeping on I on it.
Thanks for the ideas.
