Electrical Problem on 96 Tacoma...
1996 Toyota Tacoma
V6 200K.
Was running fine. Took it out for drive, at night. Got to destination put on my 4 ways and the truck died.... Restart it and it starts then stalls. I turn off my headlights and start it, and she runs and idles fine. I can drive it in 50 feet dashes with the parking lights on before it dies. Video can describe it alot better. So here is a video that i took of it.

Looks like alternator to me as well. Notice how your warning lights dim significantly in relation to the flasher?
If not the alternator, maybe some wiring was messed with when installing this new alternator. Might check for loose wires or grounds in the area of the alternator.... maybe something got bumped. Easy enough to do.

I also assumed it was the alternator. Went to autozone and got it tested and it was bad....
So i replaced it. And the truck still does the same thing. As shown in video

Maybe your battery is low or dying having to fight with an alternator that was on it's way out.
AutoZone will "loan" out a OBDII scanner. Maybe the codes will help you look in the right direction.
Just throwing out ideas.

What should the voltage be while running?
The check engine light hasnt come on yet. But I dont think it has been running long enough to throw a code.
I just gotta get it over to autozone.

I am not entirely sure... but 12.5 or so. How many volts you have when motor is off? Thing is it seems to start fine... doesn't sound like a battery on it's way out.
Your engine light doesn't have to be on to have stored codes. Might be worth pulling them. Has really helped me in the past to know where to start looking for a issue... especially one as mysterious as this one.

Sounds like the battery is done to me. AZ can test the battery too. how old is it?
EDIT:
Maybe not...just looked at the vid and it doesn't sound like its having a problem starting which it would if it was the battery usually...
I think that you may have gotten a bun alt from Autozone if its doing the same thing...but thats my .02...
