Electric Water Pump

For those of you who are trying to squeeze every little ounce of power out of your rig...What about an electric water pump? While there is not one specifically built for 4Runners, Moroso makes a generally electric pump kit and its only $80.

I doubt it would be worth the trouble. Especially since the water pump is driven by the timing belt and you will need to have the water pump pulley there to support the timing belt anyway. I guess you could remove the pump and grind off the impeller and reinstall it, but I just don't think it would be worth that amount of trouble.

I have seen one site that did dyno testing on a different engine and found no difference in power with a stock pump and an electric. That guy went back to stock.

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll pop into their web site today and check it out. I always thought that would be a good add-on to my Desert Exploring Rig, as long as it moved enough water.

Thanks.

Electric water pumps have very poor reliability in the long term. You'll only find people using those on quarter mile vehicles. Your desert vehicle would be just about the last place I'd install that.
