Thats a tuff one .I dried to clean mine the other day & the only thing that did anything was a screwdriver(flathead) .It was scraping off large amounts of black stuff.but i doubt this was very effective.

I've read on other boards about using brake fluid to clean them. Pour it in and shake it around, let it sit and dump it out.

Hey I just pluged the vacuum line that comes out of the top of the Egr,I wanted to see if this made any differance, then i could assume that my Egr was hadit.Anyway you would not believe the change,Throttle response has improved out of sight. It pulls up to speed much easier,Less pedal is needed(im barely touching it),all & all its just going heaps better.I think i might leave it pluged.
NB. Remember if you want to try this ,you need to take the line off the Egr ,leaving it on the vacuum piping.then seal the loose end of the line.I used one of those little screws that you get with DIY elctrical light switch's or Plugs( house ).It was a perfect fit.
