Early 1st-Gen Disc Brake Question
One front caliper on my '95 has begun to seize up, so I'll be replacing it soon. From reading, it appears to me that the early - 95-96 (97?) - tacos had a different front disc design.
It looks like that to replace the rotor on my 95, the hub bearing must come off. While on later 1st-gens the disc is just held on with the lug bolts.
Am I right on this? Are the calipers the same - and just the rotor/hub design changed? (I definitely have a 4-piston caliper)

I just looked at the rotor on napa's web site. If the illustrations are correct, it shows the kind that come right off also.
The online autozone repair guide and the chilton manual both describe removing the hub bearings. I'll find out soon when I have the chance to replace that caliper.

I confirmed this today as I replaced the bad caliper. The rotor came right off (held in place by the lug nuts).
So the online Autozone repair guide as well as the chilton manual are both incorrect, which is a good thing to know.

Good point. The chilton book I believe does cover the pickups as well as the Tacomas. Maybe I was looking at the wrong section.
The Autozone site though specifically is showing the wrong information for the 95 Tacoma.
If any of you guys know where I can download the Toyota FSM I'd sure appreciate it if you'd pm me.
