dynamic tensioner bolts sheared

Not much to say. In fact I'm not sure there's much learning here. Just though I'd post/archive this in case someone else has the same issue.

Last night i heard a rattle coming from the engine back on my way home. While driving home I thought it sounded like a bolt/washer rattling around (at the time I was thinking one of the vertical bolts through the s/c). I'm not sure it was wise, but I drove the last 2 miles home. Quick inspection in the garage yielded the clanking noise coming from the front of the supercharger. I went to sleep thinking I had a supercharger with at least a trashed nose.

Since my backup transportation (motorbike) was down, I needed to make the conversion back to N/A today. I was putting the wrench into the dynamic tensioner to release the belt when i noticed the allen bolt holding the top of the tensioner mounting bracket was loose. Sweet! Just need to pull the tensioner, tighten, and call it a day.

Nope. Surprisingly the bolt holding the tensioner spun easily. And kept spinning. I then pulled on the tensioner and it popped off revealing both bolts were sheared at the block/mounting bracket interface. Looking back on it, how that bracket stayed in place on the strength of 1 thread (max) in the block I don't know.

Trying to track down replacement hardware now. Not looking forward to drilling/tapping hardened bolts out of the front of the block (will require moving the condenser and radiator).

Thanks for the kind words. The following is neither here nore there.

Sent a few emails to gadget wondering how to disposition the URD kit during my week or two at normal aspiration. <12 hr turn around on the weekend. Once again I'm completely satisfied with their customer support. I asked Gadget if he'd heard of other's snapping these two bolts. his answer was Yes. (actually it was Yep).
