Double cab owners...and others I guess

What do you people think of the Tacoma Double Cabs with the 4-cylinder?

The D-cabs only come with V6's as far as I know.

I've had my '03 D-cab for almost a year and I love it so far.

I test drove both the 4 and the 6 . the 6cyl was alot more powerful in my opinion. If you tow anything or carry a load the 6cyl is beneficial. Jacque.

This is a pretty unscientific opinion but I took a 4 cyl. double cab on a short test drive last July with 2 1/2 adults in the cab. It was OK. I recall it being neither impressive nor terribly under powered. I tried the "power" button on a steep hill and couldn't discern any difference. It just sort of drove... if that makes any sense. I agree with the comment that if you haul/tow anything the 4 cyl. would be under powered. I ordered my 6 cyl. double cab sight unseen and think it to be very adequatley powered. It's got a lot more zip. It's not a rocket but the engine is strong. In retrospect now that I've had the 6 cyl. for 3 mo. I really wouldn't want a 4 cyl. The 6 just feels right, balanced if you will.

Doh...guess I was wrong about the D-cabs being V6 only. I just checked the toyota website and the 4cyl. is only available on non-4x4 models (Pre-runners).
