Don't laugh but here's my first DIY techy thingy
It's cheap, it's easy and all you need is a 4th grade edumacation to do this.
If your'e anal like me you probably don't like hearing the rear license plate frame banging against the body when closing the hatch. Soooooooooo all you need is a coupla pieces of weatherstrip ($2.00 at your local hardware store) and line the back of frame and problem solved.
I'll try to make my next tech tip a bit more interesting and scientifically challenging.

i've actually done that before. i was a little less inventive though - i used double-sided tape and left the paper on the side I didn't stick to the plate. your way sounds less ghetto than mine

Did you know that you don't need to close the hatch that hard? You can just push the hatch down gently and it automatically grabs and locks by itself. You never have to close it hard enough to shake the license plate.
If this is news to you, then that's my tech tip!

I had actually been thinking about that exact same thing this weekend when closing the hatch and the license plate rattled. I'll have to get me a nice frame and fix her up like you suggest with the weatherstripping. I learn something new everyday in here...

Thats the Spirit I have a twist on this one. I used the fuzzy circles that have adhesive and backing on one side. I think they're for furniture, like glass tops or something! They're like 1/4 inch thick.
You know if we were serious, we would have drilled holes in the rear hatch and put some stainless bolts in there!

i was lucky enough to score some free leftover dynamat from my friend after he did his doors. i guess it does the same thing...
now i just have to figure out how to keep that rear windshield wiper from rattling...
has anyone on this site tried the spray-on sound dampener? i was told that this might work, but since it has those holes in it, i'm afraid that it'll look ugly if it's sprayed with that crap.
