Do your car has factory installed alarm or an add-on later?

Greetings:

I am wondering if your car has a factory installed alarm such as RS3000/RS3200 or you add on a different brand at a later date. Which one is more reliable, factory installed or add-on?

Advance thanks for your insight thoughts.

All of my vehicles that I purchased including ones by my family members never included an alarm. I never liked the quality of the factory alarm so...

Aftermarket alarms are always going to be better than factory.

some food for your thought though... If they really want it, an alarm is not going to stop them

i installed a custom alarm myself from autoloc.com. they just changed their product line so i am not sure about them now, but i personally find that custom alarms do a better job and have less susceptibility than a factory alarm. just my two cents

I agree completely with all of these statements

I have a baseline Viper alarm with the remote door lock/unlock and starter kill.

But mainly I got it for the auto insurance rate reduction as well as the added convenience of the remote. I have a Truck-Club that I use. As the guys mention, if they really want it they'll take it but I'm doing my darndest to make the car next to me look better for the taking.

I agree that if they want to steel the car there will be nothing to prevent them to do so. Just make a little harder and gain sometime and for the insurrance rate wise that's all. That said, I am going to get the aftermarket alarm as per majority opinion and advice.

Thank you for your time and help.
