to wire it up u want to use a relay, and wire it up as if u where wiring it to use a toggle switch but instead run one wire from on position from key to relay, this will turn on relay when u turn key to the on position. personalty i would wire it to the parking lights with a switch so u have access to turn it on and off as you want. if not sure how to wire up the relay this should help.

pin 87 = battery
pin 86= switch on postion
pin 85= ground
pin 30= load = to lights,

I've been interested in this same concept. I have a 99 4Runner Limited with stock fog lights. I've considered the standard fog light mod (http://www.top4runners.com/ja/fogmod.html), but this modification causes the fog lights to flash when locking/unlocking the vehicle using the remote. This concerns me because I have HID Xenon bulbs in my fog lights and the flashing of the fogs isn't good for the bulbs.

I believe we can use the same technique used in the standard fog light mod, but rather than hooking the wire up to the taillight fuse, we can hook the wire up to an ignition controlled source. This approach still allows you to turn the fogs on/off using the factory switch (just leave the switch to 'on' for daytime running lights). My problem is finding an ignition controlled source in the fuse box that is safe to tap in to. Does anyone know which fuse would be a good candidate?

just hook a relay up to the ign on wire under your steering column and run some 12g wire to your fogs. I have a switch on mine but leave it on 99% of the time...
