Diff oil ok?
Hey guys,
I just changed the diff and transfer case fluids per the Tech writeup on Yotatech for us 3rd gen peeps. My question is regarding the fact that I used synthetic 75W 90 in the rear diff when it says in the owners manual ( and the writeup) to use 80W 90 or just straight 90W. IS it ok for me to leave it like this or am I really risking damage here over a small change in the weight of the oil?
Also I got stuck on the front diff because I need an 11mm allen.....where the heck did you guys get one of those? .....they are not common like the 10mm ones. I assume it is an 11mm because the 10mm was WAY too small. Can someone confirm for me that the drain plug on the front diff is really 11mm before I go all over earth to find one.

The front diff fill and drain plugs use a 10mm hex. I just changed the fluids in my truck Friday morning. I used 75w90 in the front diff and transfer case and 80w90 in the rear diff because that's what Toyota recommends. I think Gadget uses 75w90 everywhere and I don't think he'd do so if it would cause any problems. Using 75w90 across the board will save you from having to buy an extra quart of oil so you will save a little $$.

this question kinda has something to deal with diffs and oil and all.. why is redline such a good oil.. i know alot of ppl use it.. i have used 80-90 w coastal oil in my tranny.. does snythetic make a difference too? the only time i have a lil trouble shiftin is in the winter.. when tranny is cold.. like most of ppl have.. just wondering if redline is worth the extra $$$

Is it an 11mm? Can someone with a 96 or 97 verify it for me.....and also tell me where they bought the tool for it?
