It's not the best diesel engine you can get but it's for life hehe.

It has less ponies than the 22RE. I wonder what its torque rating is? I think there are some better 4 cylinder turbodiesel engines out there that would work great in a Toyota. Like a nice Euro passenger car turbodiesel that has 150 horsepower and 220 torque.

Most deisel engines for yotas did at that time. Deisel HPs are quite different than petrol HPs. But torque is great! check this site out for specs, http://www.off-road.com/tlc/faq/engine.html I want the 1HD-FT for my yota, that would burn the tires in no time!

not quite, but almost. You still have to switch the engine over to diesel before shut down and then fire it up on diesel until it warm the oil.... Also making the stuff is not free either. But compared to gas costs, it's CHEAP!
