“Deck plate” mod and gas mileage.

Just want to share this info:
I did my “Deck plate” mod about two moth ago.
And now my gas mileage about 1 mpg more than it used to be (went from 20 MPG to 21.1 on the highway). This is my third tank of gas that I used for highway driving so I think my measurement is correct.
However, it has not changed my in town gas mileage that was and still is about 17.4 MPG.

Yep, I experienced just about the exact same results when I did mine.

i did the same, though its important to make sure the filter is still sealed to the box and that all air coming in is filtered

Cool.

I did mine Saturday. Its the third I had done and I actually has sensor safe RTV and a deck plate in stock

I can do them in about 30 mins now...using the radius tool on my rotozip tool makes it a breeze...

Sounds about the same results that I got too. My in town mileage is 18.7 to 19.7 (was 16 to 17.5). My highway mileage at last check was 22.9.

Go for it! It was the best investment of 90 minutes that I have spent with my truck. Took me longer because I was unsure of things at first but enough pictures from the web coached me along.

Did you upgrade your airfilter yet?

This will also help. Write-up here

Matt,

Bring your truck round one evening. Just pick up a 4 1/2 deck plate from that Boat supply place in the mall behind Universal Ford on West Broad.

No, I did not upgrade my air filter. After bad experience with K&N filter I am reluctant to use anything except stock filter. But thank for a link anyway.
